HOME-START EAST HERTS

Supporting Young Families

What is Home-Start?
Home-Start is a voluntary organisation that
offers informal, confidential support to parents
so that every child can have a good start in
life. We prepare volunteers to visit families
with at least one child under 5, in their own
home. Volunteers offer regular support,
friendship and practical help and emphasise
the pleasures of bringing up children. They
provide a breathing space for parents who feel
overwhelmed by the stresses of everyday life
and work alongside statutory service providers
to improve outcomes for children.

Do you have a child with special educational needs or a disability?

A project is underway to develop our special educational provision.
The focus is on creating high quality, cost effective services in special and mainstream schools that enable children to have their needs met as locally as possible.

We are carrying out a pre-consultation, to give parents the opportunity to be involved in this project now. If your child has special educational needs or a disability of any level, we would like you to give us your views and tell us what you think should be included in the formal consultation next year.

Please reserve your place by calling our Customer Service Centre on 01438 737350 or click below to download a poster with details of meetings in November and December 2009

Immobilise

The home of the National Property Register and Recovery Service.

Protect your child's Phone, Laptop and iPod and other valuables

Immobilise is an initiative offered by our local Police force which will be actively promoted this amongst all our consortium schools. Secondary schools get each child using their school email account to register details of their phones laptops and iPods on the site. This will hopefully cut down on thefts and help us locate stolen property.

Past Events

Family Cooking sessions

As part of British Food Fortnight, Aspects worked with Aramark Foods to offer family cooking sessions in several of our primary schools.

The sessions, run by local Chef, David Stanley were held in three schools across the district and were a roaring success. Up to 6 children and a parent were given the opportunity to learn together about preparing and cooking a seasonal plum pudding.

Feedback from Headteacher:

I got very positive feedback from all involved. They enjoyed being together for the activity and were thrilled with the results. I enjoyed seeing the interactions between children and parents at the session.

Feedback from Parents:

N loved cooking. (The Chef) was very helpful with N and myself

Really nice to cook with N

N loved mixing etc and cooking in the school kitchen.

We now cook at home 3x a week at home together

(The Chef) was brilliant with all the children

P enjoyed grating the lemon peel and eating the lemon!

I thought it was a good idea
