Emma Spring
I am a Family Support Co-ordinator for Extended Schools. I have been in post since September 2008. I was previously working as a Qualified Learning Mentor at a primary school in Harlow, Essex for 3 years, for 5 years I worked as a Special Educational Needs Instructor in Chelmsford, where I achieved my Teaching Diploma.
I am studying once again part-time at London City University on a Bachelor of Science Degree - Working with Young People and Young People’s Services. Which, I am really enjoying while also enhancing my skills and knowledge.
I also work as a Carer for the elderly in the evenings and at weekends, which I really enjoy. In my spare time I enjoy swimming, cooking, travelling and meeting new people.
I hope to be able to provide support for children, schools and families in this new and developing role.
Val Evans
I am one of two family support co-ordinators working for Aspects Extended Schools and I have been in post since September 2008.
One year into my role and I have meet some wonderful people from the Bishops Stortford Community already, and I hope to continue to do so.
I enjoy my job and I love working with Children and Young People, they never cease to amaze and inspire me.
Before I came to this post I had spent 8 years in the education system, 4 of them as a Learning Support Assistant at a Secondary School in Harlow, 1 year as a Learning Mentor in the same school. The other 3 years were spent as a Learning Mentor in a Primary School also in Harlow.
I am married with three children of my own 19, 15, and 9 years who keep me on my toes. I am currently studying for a Foundation Degree in Working with Young People and Young Peoples Services and this will be my final year, unless I decide to continue for a further year to gain a full honours degree.
I enjoy cooking and socialising with friends and family. I also have a passion for reading and do this as much as possible if and when I have the time.
